Carlos Fighetti 

Nuclear Chemical Engineer, orchid growerfor 40 years. The first 30 years in New Jersey and the last ten in Puerto Rico. During that time, he served as president of several orchid organizations: Greater New York Orchid Society, The International Phalaenopsis Alliance, the American Orchid Society in the United States (AOS), and the Puerto Rican Orchid Society in Puerto Rico.

He is an Orchid Judge of the American Orchid Society for 20 years and practices in a judging center in Puerto Rico. He has participated and presented lectures at various world orchid and other international exhibitions.

His private collection consists of Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilum, Vanda, Cattleya and their allies, and also species that are of tropical cultivation, the majority being from Central and South America.

Agro. Arnaldo Astacio Diaz

    

            Agronomist, Orchid and Bromeliad grower for 44 years. For several years he dedicated me to the cultivation of these species and my hybrids. I was the founder of the Puerto Rico Heliconias Society and the Borinquen Orchid Society. My Master's degree was in biotechnology and the research was in tissue culture of Heliconia caribaea, endemic to Puerto Rico.

I was vice president of the Puerto Rico Orchid Society and several times President of Los Orquidistas de Borinquen. He currently works as a Special Assistant to the Ministry of Agriculture in charge of the Beekeeping, Ornamentals and Organic Production sectors. I am a Provisional Judge of the American Orchid Society at the Puerto Rico Trial Center.

I have participated and presented conferences on The Species of Heliconias; The Orchids of Puerto Rico; Island ecology and the endemism of our species and on Phalaenopsis pulcherrima species, hybrids and their judgment in Florida, USA. The name Borinquen is the indigenous name of the island when the Spaniards arrive, it means "Land of Paradise" "Land of the Most High or Great Lord".

Dalton Holland Baptista 

Dalton Holland Baptista was born in Piracicaba, SP, Brazil.  He has devoted more than 30 years to orchid culture.  At present, he is working on Orchidstudium, which is a project involved in the study and photographic documentation of Brazil's Orchid Flora.  He is considered an authority on Taxonomy for AOS (American Orchid Society).  Dalton has also been working as orchid judge for CAOB (Coordinadora de las Asociaciones Orquidófilas de Brasil).

Greg Allikas

Greg Allikas has been a commercial photographer in Palm Beach and an orchid grower since 1970. He is awards photographer for the AOS West Palm Beach Judging Center, Florida-Caribbean Judging Center in Miami, and many annual south Florida orchid shows. His photos are regularly seen in numerous AOS publications including the annual calendar and the Awards Quarterly and Orchids magazine and he has written articles for both Orchids magazine and Orchid Digest. The book Orchids (Thunder Bay Press, 2000), co-authored with Ned Nash, features over 200 of his photos and is now out of print. In November 2005, Thunder Bay Press published a second Allikas-Nash book, The World's Most Beautiful Orchids which features over 500 photographs and 450 pages of text. In early 2005 he was honored to consult on, and supply photography for a United Nations postaladministration endangered species stamp release featuring 12 endangered orchid species.
